1. Cuisinart CEC-10 Central Egg Cooker
Made of stainless steel and a BPA-free plastic, Cuisinart Central electric egg cooker can cook any kind of eggs you like. It has the capacity of ten eggs that you can prepare soft, medium or hard-boiled for the whole family. The unit comes with two special trails for poached eggs and omelets where you can prepare up to three eggs at the time.
Each egg must be pinned before placing on the rack, otherwise, it will break due to heat. Moving the convenient slider switch lights up the blue LED indicator which means that electric egg cooker is on. That’s when the water, you earlier put into a cooking base, starts to heat and evaporate providing the steam that actually cooks the eggs. When the cooking base is empty, you will hear a sound that tells you your eggs are done.
You can cook either soft, medium or hard-boiled eggs in this unit, and according to that, you put the amount of water needed for cooking into a cooking base. That’s why the cooker includes the, more than necessaire 180-milliliter measuring cup with a piercing pin that helps you measure the precise level of water needed for the type of eggs you desire to cook.
Cuisinart CEC-10 Central Egg Cooker comes with the manual, of course, that explains in details the using step by step, so you shouldn’t have any problems with getting it to work.
2. KRUPS F23070 Egg Cooker
With modern and stylish minimal design and ability to prepare eggs in multiple styles we can easily say that Krups egg cooker has it all. It works as any other egg cooker – you put a certain amount of water, needed for cooking the desired style of eggs, into the cooking base, pin the eggs and place them on the rack, put the plastic lid on, turn the cooker on and that is about it. After a couple of minutes, you will hear the beeping sound that let you know that the eggs are done. However, if you aren’t ready to eat yet, you don’t have to take the eggs out. You can turn the switch to the warming setting, instead, to keep them warm until the rest of your meals are ready. The cooker comes with two more trays that allow you to make more types of eggs like omelets, poached eggs or scrambled eggs.
There is also a short power-supply cord included to prevent the risk of tangling with other cords in your kitchen. While talking about the included stuff, let’s not forget about the egg piercer that makes it possible to cook eggs of all sizes well.
The capacity of this cooker is up to seven eggs, which is more than enough to make healthy breakfast or snacks for the whole family. It is really convenient to prepare seven eggs in less than ten minutes, especially for a working mum. What makes the preparation that quick, is the powerful 400-watt motor.
The appliance is very easy to clean, but make sure to do that immediately after cooking, when the parts are cool enough to handle, of course.
I also feel like I should warn you that the gadget needs to be placed on an even, heat-resistant surface during the use.
3. Big Boss 8863 Genie Egg Cooker
The plastic and metal accessories of this gadget allow you to cook the eggs soft, medium or hard-boiled, quickly for so many different recipes. When you turn the cooker on the light that shows you that the eggs are cooking turns on and after they are completely done the buzzing noise alert you to prevent a potential overcooking.
Big Boss Genie is really easy to use, but it still comes with a few accessories that make the cooking even easier. One of the accessories is a clearly marked measuring cup that shows you how much water you need to pour into a cooking base in order to get the perfectly done type of eggs that you desire. The amount of water actually indicates the time of cooking because it gets heated which makes it evaporate, so actually, the steam that comes out of it cooks the eggs. Naturally, the smallest amount of the water means the shortest amount of cooking time, which is equivalent to the softness of eggs. So if you want the eggs to be soft-boiled you should put the smallest amount of water and vice versa.
Another included accessory is a poaching tray that has the capacity of four eggs and it rests on the boiling tray when in use. The good thing about it being removable is that you can take it off the hot cooker and place it under the water to cool it and stop the cooking. You can also use it to steam vegetables to make a healthy and tasty snack.
Then there is a necessary piercing pin that comes built into the gadget for an easier access. That little design hack is actually pretty smart and convenient. It is a lot easier to just press the egg on the pin right there and immediately put it on the rack than it is with a separate pin.
4. VonShef Egg Cooker
This compact stainless steel unit fits perfectly onto every countertop and lightens up the whole kitchen with its modern design. Besides that, the stainless steel lid ensures that it will not stain over time, unlike some other plastic cookers. This gadget is capable of not just boiling the eggs from soft to hard-boiled, but also of poaching eggs and steaming other foods with a few accessories included in the set. One of those accessories is the poaching tray that looks pretty much like a plastic bowl and all you need to do is crack your eggs into it and add the water into the base to start cooking. Then, there is also a plastic measuring cup that helps you determine the amount of water for the desired type of boiling eggs. The cup also has a little piercing pin on the bottom. The downside to this cup, however, is that the measuring markings are really hard to see. Once you manage to find them, you’ll actually see that there are little drawings of one, two and three eggs that represent the amount of water which is a little confusing.
This unit works pretty much like any other egg cooker. You just have to adjust the amount of water that you pour into the cooking base to the type of the eggs you are cooking, pin the eggs to prevent from breaking due to heat and switch the cooker on. The cooker has the indicator light that lights up when the eggs start to cook and shuts off when the eggs are done. Unfortunately, there is no automatic shut off, but only a buzzing sound that alerts you to take the eggs out to prevent from overcooking, so make sure to stay in the kitchen, or at least near, until the cooking is done.
The parts aren’t dishwasher-safe, but they are really easy to hand-wash so it isn’t a big deal.
5. Dash Rapid Egg Cooker
With the capacity of six eggs at the time, Dash Rapid Egg Cooker is more than great helper when it comes to preparing fast and healthy breakfast for the whole family. You can cook all kinds of eggs in it from soft, medium and hard-boiled, to scrambled and poached eggs using the two included separate trays. The tray has the handle in the middle, perfectly placed in a spot where you’ll have a good grip to pull the eggs out without worrying about the steam. The set also includes the measuring cup that helps you determine the precise amount of water needed for cooking.
The cooker features the power switch that lights up when in use. The cooking process takes up to ten minutes for the water to completely evaporate, which means the eggs are done. The unit features the automatic shut-off mechanism that prevents from overcooking and any kind of damage in the kitchen while allowing you to relax, plus it saves the energy.
The gadget works like any other electric egg cooker. The water in base evaporates while the steam cooks previously pinned eggs and that is about it. It features one-touch power button which makes it really easy to use, plus it is dishwasher safe so it is also easy to clean.
The unit comes in four colors – black, white, red and green, and can perfectly fit into anyone’s kitchen.
6. Elite Cuisine EGC-007 Maxi-Matic Egg Cooker
This no-mess breakfast alternative with cute design and seven eggs capacity can really save a lot of time and energy in the morning. It is really easy to operate with a single one-touch button and the auto switch-off feature. All you have to do is measure the accurate amount of water needed for the desired eggs with the included measuring cup, pour it into a cooking base, pin each egg with the pin placed on the measuring cup, place them on the boiling tray, put the lid on and press the button. It is a six steps work, pretty much as with any other egg cooker. Once you press the power button, you’ll see that the indicator light turns on, and it stays on during the whole cooking process. Once the eggs are done the cooker automatically shuts off to prevent any kind of damage in the kitchen plus saves the energy. It takes under 20 minutes to cook hard-boiled eggs and even less for medium-boiled and soft-boiled.
The egg cooker comes with a few accessories in the set such as, already mentioned measuring cup with the piercing pin on the bottom, the main boiling tray with the capacity of seven eggs at the time, a poach tray with a capacity of two poached eggs at the time and an omelette tray that looks like an ordinary plastic bowl. All trays are removable which is really convenient for cooling the eggs.
7. Maverick SEC-2 Henrietta Hen Egg Cooker
The first thing you notice about this unique egg cooker is its design. The lid in the shape of chicken really makes it stand out among all other same-looking egg cookers. Besides its unique design, Henrietta has a lot of features that led it to our top ten list, like seven eggs capacity for soft, medium or hard-boiled eggs, and up to four eggs capacity if you prefer poached or scrambled eggs. There are two accessories included for these different types of eggs – a poaching tray and a cooking rack. Both are removable and dishwasher-safe for more convenience. The reason why there is no measuring cup included in this set is that the base of the cooker actually has various water lines that precisely show you how much water to pour in for the type of egg you want to cook.
Once you switch the appliance on, the indicator light lights on and it shut off once the eggs are done. Unfortunately, there is no automatic switch-off feature, but there are a hen chirping sounds that alert that the cooking is over and you should turn the appliance off to prevent from overcooking.
8. Chefman Egg Cooker
Chefman easily cooks the eggs however you like them from soft-boiled to poached. The cooker uses powerful 360 watts motor to heat the water creating the steam and cooks the eggs like any other egg cooker we reviewed today. My favorite thing about all the electric egg cookers, including this one, is that there is no mess after cooking. Chefman has a couple of accessories included that are all dishwasher-safe which makes it even more convenient. The set includes standard boiling tray, poaching tray and measuring cup with precise markings that help you determine the amount of water needed to cook the eggs up to your taste.
My favorite feature on this gadget is definitely the automatic shut-off mechanism that prevents not just the eggs from overcooking, but the whole kitchen from any kind of damage. The cooker also features the extremely loud alert that buzzes when the eggs are done.
I also like the size of the power button. There are way too many units that have such a small buttons that you have to scramble your way through to find the right one. Instead of all that complication, Chefman placed a single one-touch button (a big one) on the front panel of the unit and made the cooker really easy to use.
9. West Bend 86628 Egg Cooker
Beautifully designed, easy to operate and with some great features, West Bend egg cooker really deserves the place in this top ten list.
With the capacity of seven boiled eggs at the time or four poached eggs at the time, really makes morning routine a lot faster. The unit comes with a few accessories that make the cooking even easier. One of the accessories is a marked measuring cup that shows you how much water you need to pour into a cooking base in order to get the perfectly done type of eggs that you desire. If you turn the cup upside down you will see that there is a little egg piercing pin on the bottom of it. The set also includes the egg rack for preparing seven boiled eggs at the time and the poaching pan with four eggs capacity.
One of my favorite things about the West Base Egg Cooker is that the base of the cooker is heat-resistant which means it will stay cool during the cooking process. The lid is that comes with the set is see-through which allows you to monitor the whole process of cooking and make sure that nothing is leaking or burning.
Unfortunately, there is no auto shut-off feature so the overly loud buzzer will keep buzzing until you shut it off. As annoying as that is, it is still a good thing because it makes you come into the kitchen immediately so you really won’t have to worry whether you are going to forget about the appliance and overcook the eggs.
The unit has just perfect measures for all countertops. It is really compact and it doesn’t take up much counter space. Its minimal design is only going to compliment your kitchen, but if you want to storage it, that won’t be a problem either.
10. Rollie Hands-Free Eggmaster
This egg cooker is totally different than all other cookers we reviewed above. The main difference is in the shape. While all other cookers have the shape of a compact pot with cooking base and the lid, Rollie has the form of cylinder and it is a lot smaller. That, of course, doesn’t mean it is any less powerful. The Eggmaster has the capacity of cooking up to three eggs at the time and you can even add up some chees and vegetables or any other ingredient needed for the rolled omelette. Yet, it makes omelettes too. The amount of time needed for eggs to cook is six to eight minutes which makes it one of the fastest egg cookers in his review.
RollieEggmaster includes five wooden skewers that can be used in different recipes or just to help you take the eggs out. The skewers can also be used to clean the cooker in between the uses.
When you turn the unit on the red power light is illuminated. The second the green light comes on, you can put the ingredients into the unit. When the cooking is finished it pops up.
You might find it a little difficult to push the food down, but don’t worry because there is the packer, included in the set, that helps you place all the ingredients. If this sounds a little confusing, don’t worry about that either because the gadget comes with a detailed instructions that show everything step-by-step.
The Eggmaster comes with a lot of accessories and another one of them is a special brush designed for cleaning the cooker in case it gets clogged. While talking about cleaning, I need to mention that the unit is NOT dishwasher-safe and you shouldn’t submerge it in water. You should only clean it with the included tools.
Its small size and compact design are really convenient for traveling.
What Types of Egg Cookers Exist?
Eggs are one of the most important foods in human nutrition recommended eating more than once during the week in order to bring more than necessary proteins, vitamins, and calories into your body. There are so many ways to cook eggs but there is no way to avoid making a mess in your kitchen unless you are using an egg cooker.
There is a variety of different egg cookers in the market but each of them fit into one of four categories:
1. Electric Egg Cookers:
Electric egg cookers are becoming more and more popular with each day. These appliances use heated water and steam in order to cook eggs. You can choose whether you want soft, medium or hard-boiled eggs and according to that, you put the amount of water needed for cooking into a cooking base. When the water completely evaporates an empty base triggers alert that lets you know that your eggs are done. Each egg must be pierced with a usually included pin before cooking; otherwise, it will break due to heat. Electric egg cookers can cook more than one egg at the time, and some of them even have capacity of 14 eggs, which is perfect for large families.
2. Microwave Egg Cookers:
These cookers are designed to cook eggs with the heat of a microwave. Designed to cook one egg at the time, this unit contains an aluminum rack that holds an egg and a lid in a shape of an eggshell, obviously made of microwave-safe plastic. What you do is add some water into the holder cup, place the egg inside, close it with the shell and heat it in a microwave for a few minutes.
I really don’t think this is the healthiest way to cook the eggs, but it certainly is the fastest if you are cooking it just for one person.
3. Electric Vertical Egg Cookers:
These egg cookers are perfect for small kitchens with small countertops because they are designed to save space. That, as you can suppose, means that you can cook only one egg at the time, so it wouldn’t be a good choice for a family with kids, but it would be more than useful for one person or a couple. It takes only a couple of minutes to cook an egg, it is very easy to use and cleaning is a breeze.
4. Multifunction Egg Cookers:
These are also called hybrid egg cookers because of their ability to steam various foods. These cookers have a capacity for holding eggs and vegetables at the same time, usually on two levels, covered with a lid to keep the steam inside. These cookers are usually automated and have a variety of different controls so that you can customize the cooking to your own needs.
How to Choose the Best Electric Egg Cooker – Buyer’s Guide
It can be really hard to pick the perfect unit for yourself when there are so many brands with large selections of different egg cookers. Before making a final decision and going for a purchase there are a few things to consider, if you don’t want to make a mistake and buy something that won’t really work for you. Here’s what you should look for:
1. Cooking Options:
There is only one rule when it comes to this – The more cooking options the better. Cookers that can boil the eggs while within the shell to the soft, medium and hard-boiled level, poach them, cook scrambled eggs and omelets and do all of that perfectly and in short amount of time would be a perfect choice. There are a couple of those in our list, so it won’t be a problem finding the one. Just make sure that it has all the accessories included because buying them separately isn’t that convenient.
It is really important for an egg cooker to have a timer to notify you when the cooking process is finished. Most of the cookers have an audio alert that buzzes until you come and shut it off. That’s how they prevent the overcooking and overheating. There are also units that feature an automatic shut-off mechanism and I would recommend those because with them, there is absolutely no chance for overcooking. Lastly, there are some units that shut themselves off but also have a feature that keeps the food warm until you’re ready to eat.
It is really important to check how many eggs you can prepare in the cooker. If you have a large family that you prepare breakfast for each morning or like to host a lot of people on weekends and such, you should definitely look for an electric egg cooker capable of cooking at least 10 eggs at the same time, because that kind of gadget will save you a lot of time. But then it all depends on how often you eat eggs and how many of them you’d like to prepare. There are also cookers with a capacity of 6, 7 eggs at the time and then there are those that can cook only one egg at the time. The capacity also varies on the type of the cooker. Per instance, electric cookers are capable of holding one to 12 eggs in a cooking process while microwave cookers usually hold up to 4 eggs at the same time.
It would be perfect if the elements are dishwasher-safe for even more convenience.
The material that the cooker was made of doesn’t just have an impact on style and overall look, but it has one of the important roles in durability. Stainless steel units are the most durable and the best looking in the kitchen, but they come in only one color. On the other hand, plastic units can come in a variety of colors and can be very a decorative element on your countertop, but they are the most fragile and have the shortest lifetime. There are also units made of metal and plastic combined. The cooking base is usually metal, while the lid is plastic and see-through which allows you to monitor the whole process of cooking.
5. Easy of use:
These appliances are designed to help out in the kitchen and to cook the eggs in a shorter amount of time than usual. It would be ridiculous if that kind of unit needed a lot of preparations and was difficult to use. The buttons should be large enough to spot and recognize them immediately. The power button should be the largest and should work with a single touch. The panel shouldn’t be crowded with too many buttons and dials.
It would be perfect if the elements are dishwasher-safe for even more convenience.
Customer’s Opinions – See What Other Users Say:
Eggs are well known for their richness in proteins, calories, vitamins A, B and D, folic acid, and iron which are necessary for every human beings health. Whether you make them for the benefits of health or just because you love the taste these cookers can make the preparation so much easier.
As you could see in the reviews above, most of the electric egg cookers work on the similar base with heating the water in order to make the steam that actually cooks the eggs.
With the variety of different egg cookers in the market, it can be a little difficult to choose the perfect cooker for you, and that’s exactly why I wrote this review.
I hope this article helped you get at least a little closer to an easier and more convenient way of making healthy snacks for you and your family.
Happy shopping and Bon appetite!
